PRF Platelet Rich Fibrin

Natural filler utilizing your own blood

With the onset of our thirties, facial volume gradually diminishes, affecting areas such as the under-eye region, cheeks, and mouth vicinity. Subsequently, during our forties and fifties, the skin and muscles undergo stretching due to the depletion of collagen and elastin. This non-surgical and widely acclaimed treatment stimulates collagen production, effectively tightens lax skin, and restores facial volume, all without the need for invasive procedures.

PRF is the next generation of PRP, which also utilizes your own blood for skin augmentation. It is renowned as a “natural” filler that contains a very high concentration of white blood cells, fibrin, and stem cells (growth factors) circulating in our bloodstream. PRF transforms into a gel after 15 to 20 minutes of isolation and is immediately injected into the face or body.

PRF vs PRP

Firmer, radiant, rejuvenated & more youthful appearance

PRF demonstrates a significantly higher capacity to stimulate collagen matrix synthesis in comparison to PRP. As a result, PRF provides superior outcomes in terms of skin rejuvenation compared to conventional PRP methods.

The main distinction between PRP and PRF lies primarily in the method of blood collection. In the traditional PRP facial procedure, a blood sample is obtained and subjected to centrifugation at high speed to separate the platelets into two distinct layers: a platelet-rich layer and a platelet-poor layer. To prevent clotting, an anticoagulant is added, which removes the fibrin from the blood, resulting in its thinning.

In contrast, during PRF preparation, your blood is spun at a lower speed, allowing the heavier white blood cells, stem cells, and fibrin to remain within the platelet layer. This slower spin minimizes cell damage, resulting in a higher concentration of healing platelets. PRF typically contains around 10 times the platelet concentration found in the body, whereas PRP contains approximately 2-5 times that amount. Unlike PRP, PRF does not require the addition of anticoagulants. This unique process in PRF leads to the formation of a spongy fibrin matrix, which signals the platelets to gradually release their growth factors. Consequently, the effects of PRF tend to last longer than PRP. While the effects of PRP usually persist for approximately 3 months, PRF can extend the duration to around 6 months, providing more enduring results.

The final distinction lies in the application of these treatments. PRP is commonly administered during facial or microneedling sessions, focusing on overall skin rejuvenation. On the other hand, PRF is utilized as a filler, leveraging its fibrin and slow-release growth factors to enhance volume in the skin. This natural filler presents a remarkable alternative to synthetic fillers, offering a safe and effective solution for restoring volume and rejuvenating the skin.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

Yes, PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) does effectively stimulate the production of collagen. This regenerative treatment aids in rejuvenating and healing damaged skin while addressing various cosmetic concerns. Considered one of the top anti-aging treatments, PRF works by boosting the natural production of collagen and elastin. As time goes by, this leads to firmer, healthier, and more youthful-looking skin. Additionally, PRF can be utilized as a preventative measure to counteract collagen depletion, even in younger patients seeking to delay the aging process.

PRF plays a crucial role in promoting the production of collagen, elastin, and growth factors, which contribute to the development of thicker skin. By preventing the folding of the skin, PRF helps minimize the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. Aging often leads to thinning and increased fragility of the skin, resulting in visible signs of aging. However, regular PRF treatments can help maintain the skin's vitality and preserve its youthful appearance, ensuring that it remains beautifully plump for an extended period.

PRF demonstrates remarkable effectiveness in enhancing the overall appearance of the skin and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It achieves this by tightening the skin, smoothing out textural irregularities, and imparting a rejuvenated glow. One area where PRF excels is in the treatment of under-eye skin aging. It has the ability to fill in sunken hollows and diminish the visibility of wrinkles in this delicate area, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed look.

It is important for individuals considering PRP/PRF treatments to understand that while the results can last for several months, the effects are not permanent. Like with any aesthetic treatment, the longevity of the results varies from person to person. To enjoy and maintain the achieved effects, ongoing maintenance treatments are typically recommended. By incorporating regular follow-up treatments, you can continue to enjoy the benefits of PRF over an extended period.

The effects of PRF can be noticeable within a few days after the treatment. However, it is important to note that multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve desired results. As the skin gradually increases its collagen production, more significant improvements can typically be observed around 4 to 6 weeks after the initial treatment. To maintain and maximize long-term benefits, such as enhanced skin quality, it is recommended to undergo PRF treatments on a regular basis, typically every 6 to 12 months. This allows for continued rejuvenation and optimization of results over time.

In some cases, a minor amount of redness, swelling, or bruising may occur in the treated area following PRF injections. However, these temporary side effects typically subside within a few days as the body's natural healing process takes place. It is important to note that individual responses to the treatment may vary.

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is derived from the patient's own blood, eliminating the risk of allergic reactions or the formation of nodules. This makes PRF an excellent choice for those who may have allergies to chemical fillers. This breakthrough in skin rejuvenation offers a safe and effective alternative that harnesses the regenerative power of the patient's own blood components, promoting natural healing and rejuvenation without the risk of adverse reactions.

PRF offers a remarkable natural alternative to the use of synthetic substances for aesthetic treatments, and it can also be used in combination with other injectables. At Serenity, we uphold a philosophy of embracing a natural and holistic approach to beauty and wellness. PRF treatments are generally considered safe due to the use of naturally occurring components, such as plasma and fibrin. Similar to any injectable procedure, there is a possibility of experiencing temporary side effects such as bruising, swelling, and discomfort at the injection site. However, these effects typically subside within a few days following the treatment, allowing you to enjoy the rejuvenating benefits of PRF.

In contrast to fillers and Botox injections, PRF treatment stands out as a completely natural and organic approach. It harnesses the power of substances that are naturally present in your body, specifically your own blood and fibrin, a protein matrix. By utilizing these naturally occurring substances, a gel is formed, containing a rich concentration of white blood cells, growth-promoting stem cells, and fibrin. This gel is then skillfully injected into your skin, offering a holistic and organic method for facial rejuvenation. With PRF, you can experience the benefits of rejuvenation while embracing the inherent natural components of your own body.

PRF represents the next generation of PRP and offers advancements in effectiveness. It contains higher concentrations of growth factors compared to PRP. Additionally, PRF serum includes stem cells, white blood cells (leukocytes), and fibrin, which are absent in PRP. The stem cells present in PRF are "undifferentiated" cells that possess the ability to transform into the specific cells necessary for repairing the hair follicles. This transformative process enables the production of thick and healthy hair shafts once again.

Moreover, the presence of fibrin in PRF acts as a scaffold, ensuring that the growth factors and stem cells remain localized to the treated area of the scalp. This prevents their diffusion away from the targeted region, allowing for the sustained release of more growth factors over an extended period. These factors collectively contribute to the superiority of PRF in hair loss treatment, as it offers higher concentrations of growth factors, includes vital stem cells, and employs fibrin as a scaffold to enhance the efficacy and duration of the treatment.

The response to PRF treatment may vary from person to person, depending on the underlying cause and the extent of hair loss. However, it is generally observed that initiating PRF treatment soon after the onset of hair loss yields better results.

For most individuals experiencing hair loss, it is often recommended to undergo four PRF treatments, with each session spaced approximately one month apart. Following this initial phase, quarterly treatments are typically advised to maintain the achieved results during the first year. After one year, the frequency of PRF treatments can be adjusted based on the specific hair regrowth progress of the individual.

It is important to note that the recommended treatment regimen and frequency may vary depending on the unique needs and response of each patient. Consulting with a qualified healthcare professional or specialist in PRF hair loss treatment can provide personalized guidance and recommendations for optimal results.
